KAI Privacy Policy
Effective May 31, 2026
KAI is a local-first AI assistant from Krætus. It was built so your data stays on your device — there is no KAI account, no analytics, and no advertising. This page explains exactly what that means.
The short version
KAI does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything you say to KAI, and everything it remembers for you, is stored only on your iPhone.
Data we collect
None. KAI has no backend server. Your conversations, voice, reminders, and any other personal information are never sent off your device to us or to anyone else.
Data stored on your device
- Conversations, remembered facts, reminders, and settings are stored locally using Apple's on-device database. They never leave your device and are removed when you delete the app.
- AI responses are generated entirely on your device.
Microphone & speech recognition
If you use voice mode, KAI uses your microphone and Apple's on-device speech recognition to turn your speech into text. This happens entirely on your device; your audio and transcripts are not uploaded or stored by us.
Network use
KAI makes a single network request: a one-time download of the AI model files (from Hugging Face) the first time you launch the app. This download transfers no personal or identifying information. After it completes, KAI works fully offline.
Analytics & tracking
None. KAI contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and it does not request the advertising identifier (IDFA).
Children's privacy
KAI is rated 12+. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of KAI adds an optional feature that changes how data is handled — for example, syncing your memory to your own home device over your local network — we will update this policy and describe that feature before it is enabled.
